Join us as we celebrate the 3rd Annual "A Victorian Christmas" Open House at the 1859 Goodman-LeGrand Museum, and take a nostalgic trip back to Christmases of long ago.

Steep yourself in old-fashioned Christmas traditions, as you tour this 151 year old Tyler historic landmark delightfully decorated for the holidays. You will be greeted by our Christmas Belles as you enter the mansion. Meet the Goodman family and friends, wonderfully portrayed by costumed re-enactors.

As an extra special attraction this year, you will see new artifacts on display for the very first time, including original Goodman ladies dresses that date back to the Civil War era. In addition, there will be a special display of historic children’s toys. See and hear the carolers in costume, singing traditional Christmas carols for your entertainment. Listen to the violins and harp playing in the Gold Room formal parlor.

Savor complimentary vintage treats under the grand porches, such as wassail, gingerbread cookies, shortbread scones and holiday punch, after touring this lovely old southern home. Step back in time and experience the joy of riding in a vintage horse-drawn carriage owned and operated by Farm Valley Carriages, which begins each trip down Broadway in front of the Goodman home.

There is a small charge for the carriage ride. This event is part of the Downtown Tyler Museums Alliance holiday celebration, where four other downtown museums will be having their holiday open houses at the same time. The McClendon House will also be open for tours, along with the ArtWalk and HistoryWalk on the downtown square. Join us and let the atmosphere of Christmases of yesteryear help make this Christmas season come alive again in your heart!
